Sacraments of Initiation

If you did not complete your sacraments of initiation - Baptism, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation - the Summer Institute is a great opportunity to do so. These three sacraments lay the foundation for every Christian life. We are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the Sacrament of Confirmation, and receive the food of eternal life in the Eucharist. 

How does the Summer Institute Work?

We meet four times as group to ask questions and to have some discussion about how we see God connecting with us in our lives. At least one, if not two priests join with us. There are also mentors from the parish and you are given their bio, contact info, and areas of interest in life and spiritually. You choose a few people that you can meet with to have discussions about life and the faith. Everyone is present to guide you, answer questions, suggest books if you desire, and walk with you to complete your sacraments. We also laugh a lot and have some fun while deepening our relationship with Christ.

Why Complete Your Sacraments?

A completion of these sacraments not only brings God's special grace, but declares a complete acceptance of the Catholic faith through its teachings and the living out of its virtues in our daily lives. It also reflects the commitment of an individual to the Catholic community and the mission of the church through the Gospel message in their works, deeds, and reaching of others.
 

Marriage Blessed

 If you were not married in the church, but would like to have your marriage sacramentalized, also known as a Convalidation, we can help you with that. Convalidation essentially brings your union in line with Church teachings and allows you to fully participate in the sacraments.  Catholic marriage makes Christ present in our world and the relationship between a husband and wife mirrors the relationship between Christ and his church. Bringing your marriage into the church will bring oneness with the church, fullness of the sacraments, and God's special blessing upon your marriage.

Feeling Uncomfortable?

Some people in the past have said they were too embarrassed to come forward because they were not Confirmed, for instance, or because they did not get married in the church. Please do not be!! The entire community rejoices when people choose to complete their sacraments, receive God's grace, and come into full communion with the church, as we believe God rejoiced too!


 Vacations

We realize it is summertime and people have vacations scheduled. If you need to miss a session or two due to vacation, please do not let that deter you. We can work around that.
