Grieving with Great Hope Workshop
Grieving with Great Hope is a Catholic grief support workshop for anyone mourning the loss of a loved one—whether the loss occurred recently or many years ago. Rooted in the promise of Christ's resurrection, this workshop offers hope, healing, and companionship through prayer, reflection, fellowship, remembrance, and the Seven Intentions of Mourning.
Developed by John and Sandy O'Shaughnessy, co-founders of Good Mourning Ministry, the series helps participants understand grief as a natural response to loss while learning healthy, faith-filled ways to navigate loss. Inspired by St. Paul's words in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, "Let us not grieve as others who have no hope," the workshop reminds us that while grief is a part of life, we never walk through it alone. Christ, the Great Healer, accompanies us every step of the way.
The five sessions include small-group discussions in a safe, compassionate environment where participants may share their experiences if they wish. The series concludes with a short prayer service, celebrating our hope in the risen Lord and the promise of eternal life.
The cost is $15, which includes the participant workbook.
Please note we also offer a monthly grief support group on the second Fridays of the month in the parish hall. There is no cost and everyone is welcome. You do not have to attend Grieving with Great Hope to attend the monthly grief support groups.
