Thank you for your interest in pursuing the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Mary Parish. We are thrilled that you are considering initiating your child into our Catholic family. Just as you are grateful to God for the gift of your child, we are grateful to Him for the blessings that you have brought and continue to share with our parish family. We look forward to sharing the journey to Baptism with your family, as well as our shared continued life of faith.
The Sacrament of Baptism is one of the Sacraments of Initiation. Through Baptism, we have new life in Jesus Christ. We become members of the Body of Christ and His Church. Baptism is more than a “rite of passage”. At the time of Baptism, the individual being baptized:
Receives forgiveness of original sin, as will as any personal sins
Is bestowed with sanctifying grace, sealing the person with a permanent spiritual mark
Given a mission, as we are each marked as a priest, prophet, and king.
This is why the Sacrament of Baptism can only be conferred once.

The Foundation of the Baptism Program is a program from Ascension Press called: “Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God”, to help parents and prospective godparents better understand the importance of this sacrament in the life of your child and family.
